Bob Schamerhorn

A longtime participant in J-ART-sponsored events, Bob Schamerhorn has earned the top honor for his phenomenal nature photography. His remarkable talent lies in capturing wildlife in rare and breathtaking moments: a sea turtle gliding through shimmering water, a fawn peeking through tall grass, or a pelican cutting through the mist of a crashing wave. His images showcase technical mastery and a deep reverence for the natural world.

Honorable Mention

Michael Gillespie

This year's Honorable Mention goes to Michael Gillespie, a familiar face at both local and statewide art festivals. Known for his inventive spirit, Michael transforms everyday objects into whimsical and thought-provoking sculptures. Whether it’s an alligator made from bike chains, a bird fashioned from garden shears and a rake, or dazzling hanging disks that play with light and color, his work blends humor, ingenuity, and artistic flair.

Judge’s Choice Awards

Jason Benkendorf

Jason is another familiar face at J-Art events.  He received a Judge’s Choice for his stunning wood-turned creations from “redeemed” wood. He finds old tree branches, tree stumps, old barn wood, etc., and uses a lathe to create his magic, transforming the otherwise trashed wood into works of art. Much like Michelangelo, who was inspired by the color, form, and texture of his marble, Jason is also inspired by the color, form, and texture of his pieces of wood. He sculpts unique, practical, but mostly beautiful bowls, vases, platters, etc.  

Victoria Buckland

Another Judge’s Choice went to Victoria Buckland for her exquisite handmade glass vessels. With a masterful eye for color and form, she combines fused glass elements to create sculptural pieces that are both functional and highly collectible. Each vessel is a testament to her refined skill and artistic vision.

Megan Whitten

Megan Whitten was awarded a Judge’s Choice for her elegant, hand-crafted metal jewelry. From design concept to finished piece, her work reflects precision and imagination. Her earrings, bracelets, and necklaces—formed from hand-tooled metal in various shapes and textures—swirl gracefully to create striking, wearable art.
